Air-supported structures were first utilized as protective enclosures for military radar antennas and have evolved into a variety of commercial, industrial, and recreational applications over the past 45 years. The earliest recreational development of air-supported structures was to temporarily enclose single tennis courts and swimming pools; these applications are still its most familiar use. Today, the use of air-supported structures has expanded into many other areas, some of which are as follows:
